And this is the Joey-based Red-Eyes Burn deck I use in YGOPro. It’s 45 cards, but I couldn’t think of another 5 cards to remove from this deck. But those extra 5 cards have actually helped this deck be better. Magician of Faith is there to, like Fiber Jar/Black Stone of Legend/Archfiend Black Skull Dragon, to add some more recycling of cards to this deck. It also makes a good target for Claw of Hermos if you want to summon Time Magic Hammer.

(Note that I use the anime version of Skull Dice that is a quick-play spell card.)

  2. Thanks for the deck list.

But i think that we must define the differences (at level of deck and gameplay) between Joey and Atticus Rhodes since they use the same key card. What do you think? Joey could be fusion RE and Rhodes Dark RE, but I don’t know.

    Any idea?

  3. Not sure. Only Yu-Gi-Oh series I’ve seen recently is the original series and of what I had seen of GX when I was a kid, I never got to the episodes featuring Atticus. (I’d remember seeing Red-Eyes monsters in GX if I had.)

  4. What i remember from both is:

    1) Joey was more for Fire, Warrior and Fusion.

    2) Atticus was more darkness and metal, and didn’t use a lot of fusion monster. Also play an sphere deck (mostly of the cards is manga-only).

  5. Funny, Fusions and Warrior-Type monsters was actually was I was thinking when I made that deck I posted the list for.

I just included more Red-Eyes support with the Warrior monsters in place of a lot of the random cards (Insect Queen, Legendary Fisherman, Fortress Whale, etc.) that Joey won during Battle City since he never used them after Battle City. Though I did try to include cards like Graceful Dice, Skull Dice, Dragon Nails, and Lightning Blade so it still felt like a deck Joey would use.

  6. And I forgot to mention this. I made a few changes to my Red-Eyes Burn/Warrior Joey deck to make it a little better. Here’s the new deck list.

    [Main Deck – 40]
    Monster Cards (18)
    Red-Eyes B. Dragon
    Summoned Skull
    Cyber-Tech Alligator
    Baby Dragon
    Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
    Gilford the Lightning
    Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon
    Jinzo
    Gearfried the Iron Knight
    Red-Eyes Wyvern
    Red-Eyes Retro Dragon
    Hayabusa Knight
    Fiber Jar
    Red-Eyes B. Chick
    Black Metal Dragon
    Scapeghost
    Copycat
    The Black Stone of Legend

    Spell Cards (15)
    Red-Eyes Fusion
    Raigeki
    Harpie’s Feather Duster
    The Claw of Hermos
    Inferno Fire Blast
    Pot of Greed
    Graceful Charity
    Riryoku
    Scapegoat
    Graceful Dice
    Skull Dice
    Lightning Blade
    Amplifier
    Dragon Nails

    Trap Cards (7)
    Bottomless Trap Hole
    Kunai with Chain
    Red-Eyes Spirit
    Metalmorph
    Psychic Shockwave
    Magical Arm Shield
    Crush Card Virus

    [Extra Deck – 6]
    Fusion Monsters: 5
    Archfiend Black Skull Dragon
    Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword
    Goddess Bow
    Rocket Hermos Cannon
    Time Magic Hammer

    Xyz Monsters: 1
    Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon

NOTE: “Riryoku”, “Skull Dice”, and “Crush Card Virus” listed here are the anime counterparts in YGOPro. The reasons for this are:
    1. Crush Card Virus: It’s anime counterpart has a better effect than the real life counterpart. Plus it doesn’t prevent your opponent from taking damage that turn.
    2. Skull Dice: It’s a quick-play spell card in the anime rather than a trap, which is good because this deck also uses Jinzo.
    3. Riryoku: It halves your opponent’s life points permanently (and gives that lost LP to one monster you control) in the anime instead of an opponent’s monster for one turn. Used with “Archfiend Black Skull Dragon”/”Gilford the Lightning”/”Red-Eyes B. Dragon”/other strong monsters, this gives Joey’s deck a bit of OTK possibility, especially if used with with “Metalmorph”.

  7. I just thought of a card that would be great for a Joey deck, to give it some more consistency (in terms of searching as well as drawing): http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Dwarf_Star_Dragon_Planeter

Dwarf Star Dragon Planeter searches three cards that Joey has or would use: Red-Eyes B. Dragon (Level 7 DARK), Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon (Level 7 DARK), and Gearfried the Swordmaster (Level 7 LIGHT). With him and “Black Metal Dragon” to search the monsters and “Red-Eyes Insight” to search the Spells or Traps, you and I could probably make a pretty consistent Joey-based deck now.

  8. In a deck like Red-Eyes Gearfried or Red-Eyes Warrior could be a really interesting option. Good one.

  9. Since I have nothing to do, I may make a deck list for this that we can discuss. Would you say Ritual Monsters should be an option for a Red-Eyes Warrior deck, or leave them out? Pre-Preparation of Rites and Red-Eyes Insight can search the necessary cards.

Red-Eyes Insight can also drop a Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon in the Graveyard to be banished for Lord of the Red’s Ritual Summon (if using Red-Eyes Transmigration).

  10. Ritual could be an option for red-eyes warrior deck. I accept RE Insight for that deck.

But I didn’t have a lot of time lately, and I’ve only build two decks: leo’s second deck and an Shinato Bujin for Noah Kaiba.

But I don’t have the expetations in publish that decks in this week. Maybe next week.

  11. Ok, finally I’ve made the first deck. It was more focused in fusion sommuning with burn effects:

    3x RE
    2x RE Black Flare Dragon
    2x RE Archfiend of Lightning
    2x RE Meteor Dragon
    3x RE Tracer Dragon
    3x Keeper of the Shrine
3x The Black Stone of Legend
    1x One for One
    2x RE Fusion
1x Return of the Dragon Lords
    2x Polymerization
2x Cards of the Red Stone
    1x Hermos
    2x Inferno Fire Blast
    1x Pot of Greed
    1x Dragon’s Mirror
    1x Monster Reincarnation
    1x Foolish Burial
    1x Monster Reborn
    1x RE Insight
    1x Premature Burial
    1x RE Spirit
    2x Return of RE
    1x Torrential Tribute

    2x Black Dragon Archfiend
    1x First of Dragons
    3x Falling Meteor Black Dragon
    2x Superalloy Beast
    2x RE Black Dragon Sword
    2x RE Flare Metal Dragon

  12. The first deck looks good, however I think “First of the Dragons” is a bit much for a Joey-themed deck consider how powerful it is. I think it’s more appropriate for a Kaiba-themed deck than a Joey-themed deck. Same with “Keeper of the Shrine”.

Also, I think “Beast of Talwar” should be in place of at least one of the “Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightnings” so “Red-Eyes Fusion” can be used at its full potential when Summoning “Archfiend Black Skull Dragon”.

  13. Ok, to be honest I rarelly use the First of Dragons, since that I see Superalloy an more interesting option because with this deck is so easy summon from the graveryard gemini monsters. I can run 1 First of Dragon.

But it’s curious. You say that First of Dragons is too powerfull for Joey but what about Rex Raptor’s second deck: he have three copies!!! Shoul I run just 1 copy for Rex?

    My updates:

    -1 First of Dragons

    -1 RE Archfiend
    +1 Beast of Talwar

  14. Yeah, I liked the idea of Superalloy. I wish I’d heard of that card before.

And I never noticed First of the Dragons in any of Rex’s decks. But another reason is the one negative about First of the Dragons: “You can only control 1 ‘First of the Dragons’.” Three copies is a bit much for any deck since you can’t summon more than one at a time.

  15. To make it slightly less competitive (Joey’s decks have always been less competitive than Kaiba and Yugi) and more like something Joey would use, this is what I came up with. I don’t think Joey would use 3 of every card he has like Kaiba would (he’s used 3x Peten the Dark Clown, 3x Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and 3x Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon so far).

    [Main Deck – 40]
    Monsters: 18
    Beast of Talwar
    Red-Eyes B. Dragon
    Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning
    Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon x2
    Red-Eyes Meteor Dragon
    The Back Stone of Legend
    Red-Eyes Retro Dragon
    Red-Eyes Meteor Dragon
    Black Metal Dragon x2
    Dwarf Star Dragon Planeter
    Red-Eyes Wyvern
    Decoy Dragon
    Jinzo – Jector
    Scapeghost
    Fiber Jar
    Jinzo

    Spells: 15
    Red-Eyes Fusion x2
    Cards of the Red Stone
    Pot of Greed

    Premature Burial
    Harpie’s Feather Duster
    Giant Trunade
    Polymerization
    Red-Eyes Insight
    The Claw of Hermos
    Inferno Fire Blast
    Spark Field
    Amplifier
    Raigeki

    Traps: 7
    Metalmorph
    Floodgate Trap Hole
    Bottomless Trap Hole
    Kunai with Chain
    Trap Hole of Spikes
    Magical Arm Shield
    Red-Eyes Spirit

    [Extra Deck – 5]
    Fusion Monsters [4]
    Archfiend Black Skull Dragon
    Blazing Meteor Black Dragon
    Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword
    Superalloy Beast Raptinus

    Xyz Monsters [1]
    Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon

    Several tech choices were:
    1. Spark Field: A brand new card, but it allows you to Normal Summon “Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon”, “Red-Eyes Meteor Dragon”, and “Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lighting” without Tribute, then Normal Summon them again in the same turn to unlock their Gemini Effects. This helps avoid bad hands where you only draw the high-level Gemini monsters that are bound to happen. This works well with “Superalloy Beast Raptinus” (which was a great idea, I wish I’d heard of that card sooner).
    2. Harpie’s Feather Duster, Giant Trunade, Raigeki: All removal cards that Joey has used in the original show (even if “Raigeki” was Marik’s card, he did use it against Yugi so why not?).
    3. Jinzo, Jinzo Jector, Amplifier – Lock your opponent out of using Trap Cards.
    4. Dwarf Star Dragon Planeter searches the Level 7 “Red-Eyes” monsters
    5. Beast of Talwar – So “Red-Eyes Fusion” can be used to its full potential for “Archfiend Black Skull Dragon”, also Joey used it in a scripted duel.
    6. Inferno Fire Blast – Just for the extra damage if your opponent is stalling with the likes of Gravity Bind and you don’t have Jinzo to negate it.
    7. Floodgate Trap Hole, Bottomless Trap Hole, Trap Hole of Spikes – Joey’s always been fond of Trap Hole cards, so why not?
    8. Metalmorph, Kunai with Chain, Magical Arm Shield – Classic Joey cards that are good for defense and extra battle damage
    9. Premature Burial + Giant Trunade = 2 Special Summoned monsters since Trunade doesn’t destroy Premature Burial. This is in place of “Return of the Dragon Lords so this deck isn’t as competitive as Kaiba or Joey’s decks. That’s also the reason why I don’t think Joey should use Dragon’s Mirror or Keeper of the Shrine, it makes the deck more competitive than anything Joey ever used.
    10. Red-Eyes Wyvern – Another Monster Reborn for Red-Eyes monsters

  16. Ok, I will test your deck right now, but, and doesn’t get me wrong, it doesn’t look me consistent.

I will reply you after testing.

  17. It’s a good deck. I’m suprised. I will consider some cards like Black Metal Dragon, Red-Eyes Wyvern, Inferno FB, and some TH traps.

However I don’t need Jinzo and their supports for a deck that is more foccused on Red-Eyes (Joey will have an copy of Jinzo in other decks, and a full Jinzo deck will go to Roba). The same goes to Magical Arm Shield, Metalmorph, Spark Field, Decoy and Fiber Jar.

I have an golden citation while making decks: “If you want to play Exodia, play Exodia.” 😀

  18. I guess what I normally do is create a general character deck, as opposed to being focused on archetype. For example, I also made a Blue-Eyes Dragon Lord AtoZ Deck for Kaiba, and a Magnet Warrior Ancient Gear Deck featuring Gandora-X and Silent Magician for Yugi, that are pretty consistent too, surprisingly. They both can start off slow sometimes, but once the deck goes off, an OTK happens before you know it.

I’ve Summoned Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon, and AtoZ Dragon Buster Cannon in the same duel at least eight times.

Anyway, I included Fiber Jar as last line of defense like how I always add Cyber Jar in Kaiba decks. (Return of the Dragon Lords can prevent your Dragons from being destroyed by Cyber Jar too, so you keep an advantage over your opponent if you just used Cyber Jar to mess them up even more.) Pretty much, it’s: “This isn’t going well. I’ll just reset the game with Fiber Jar.” I’ve drawn into Red-Eyes Fusion because of Fiber Jar after struggling because of a bad opening hand so many times and OTK’d because of Archfiend Skull Dragon’s effect that it’s not even funny.

There’s also a good use for Scapeghost. It servers a better role than Scapegoat because afterward, three of tokens can be tributed for Gilford the Lightning (unlike Scapegoat’s tokens) if they survived that turn somehow, to destroy all of your opponent’s monsters.

  19. No problem, mate. While I have more time (lately i’ve make few decks – 2th Noah Kaiba, Trueman and Girag) I will test the AtoZ BE deck that you have suggested. I’ve also the idea in include Obelisk but it will work?

Fiber Jar is an interesting option but I prefer the effect of Torrential Tribute and Thunder End Dragon for OTK in Kaiba deck.

Scapeghost is already one of my favorite cards. I’m thinking add in Yusei deck, and it is interesting since that Yusei have a lot of defensive traps. In this way I can flip summon scapeghost in the next turn.

  20. You mean Obelisk for the AtoZ Deck? I think that could work. Summon the 3 ABC monsters, then Tribute them for Obelisk, then banish them from the Graveyard for ABC in the same turn.

And did I say Fiber Jar for Kaiba? I meant Cyber Jar if I did. Kaiba’s used it and it works well for Defenses, as well as thinning the Deck by 5 cards. There are times when I’ve gone into either ABC or XYZ after blowing things up with Cyber Jar. (A ‘Return of the Dragon Lords’ in your Graveyard can save your Dragons, same with blowing things up with Thunder End Dragon.)

And speaking of Yusei, I run a copy of The Dark Door to go along with Scrap-Iron Scarecrow so they can’t do anything when they attack, which obviously Spell/Trap removal won’t work because of Stardust Dragon and Shooting Star Dragon. I also run Dark Bribe, Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell, Divine Wrath (discard Level Eater, Quillbolt, etc.), Shadow Spell, and Draw Muscle, and Wall of Disruption for where Scrap-Iron Scarecrow fails (like against Blue-Eyes Chaos Max Dragon, since it can’t be targeted by Scrap-Iron Scarecrow). I might post the deck list so it makes more sense.

But would Scapeghost really be all that useful in a Yusei deck? He’s only ever used 3-4 monsters that need to be Tribute Summoned and Shooting Quasar can be Summoned first turn if you have Quickdraw Synchron + Level Eater + Synchron Explorer in your opening hand.

  21. As for Blue-Eyes AtoZ, this is my most recent update of it.

Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy
    Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon
    Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand
    Thunder End Dragon

*Ties of the Brethren: This makes it easy to Summon A-to-Z Dragon Buster Cannon early in the duel. Use Unexpected Dai to Summon X-Head Cannon from the Deck, then use the anime version of this in YGOPro to Summon Y and Z from the Deck, then use them to Summon XYZ-Dragon Cannon. Normal Summon A, B, or C, search one of them with Union Hangar, then Unequip it next turn to search the last and Summon ABC, then banish both to Summon A-to-Z.
**Unexpected Dai: Literally the only card I could think of that easily searches X-Head Cannon other than Ties of the Brethren.
***Scramble Union: Summon ABC or AtoZ, then use this to bring back A, B, and C that are banished; equip them to AtoZ so its unaffected by all of your opponent’s Spells, Traps, AND monster effects. It makes AtoZ unstoppable (literally), which being able to negate anything that would destroy A, B, and C while they’re equipped.
****Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier is possible in this Deck. All you need is any 2 Level 4s (X, Y, Z, A, B, and C all work here) + The White Stone of Ancients or Torque Tune Gear. Level 4 + Level 4 + Level 1 = Level 9.
*****Legendary Dragon of White: I got my hands on a copy of this card and I thought why not? With XYZ and ABC, it’s possible to clear your opponent’s field so this can attack directly. I’ve won matches with this in YGOPro a few times. Normally I go for Dark Matter though so I can get Felgrand, Arkbrave, and White Stone of Ancients in my Graveyard to make another Rank 8 (normally Thunder End Dragon).

  22. I also came up with a crazy idea. You know other, other than Red-Eyes B. Dragon and Flame Swordsman, that Joey typically relied on “Swamp Battleguard” and “Lava Battleguard” a lot in Season 1? Well, Battleguards got some new support in the form of these that are actually pretty good:
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Feast_of_the_Wild_LV5 This can Summon Swamp and Lava Battleguard at the same time, then they can be Tributed for the effect of this card to allow it to attack 3 times
    http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Battleguard_King

There are also two traps related that can Support Battleguard monsters.
    http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Battleguard_Howling
    http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Battleguard_Rage

Use “Battleguard Rage” + “Feast of the Wild LV5″ + Battleguard King” and you probably have an OTK. That Spell and Trap would turn Battleguard King into a 4000-ATK monster that can attack 3 times (even if your opponent doesn’t have that many monsters!).

  23. Yes I know that Joey uses the archetype, but… It more for The Sledgehammer. 😀

I never have intetions to make a deck based in battleguards for Joey, but thanks for the idea.

  24. I don’t have time to make news decks for Kaiba, but I accept Cyber Jar. I really think that Obelisk would work for an AtoZ Deck, but I will say it again, for now I can’t make more news decks for the next days. I’m focusing on update decks (Bonz, Joey, Kaiba) this week.

To be honest, I think it will work for a Yusei deck, but I understand your idea. Yusei always summoning monsters from everywhere (deck, graveyard, hand, banished, from opponent hand, from the occean, from the hell, 😀 😀 😀 ) and maybe don’t have space for 1 tuner and 3/4 tokens in the field.

  25. Yeah, I’ve pulled off some crazy fields with my Yusei deck (i.e. Shooting Quasar Dragon equipped with Armory Arm and Crystal Wing Synchro Deck with 4500 ATK due to Back-Up Rider without Soul Charge, even if I have that in my Yusei Deck).

Let’s just say…a 5000-ATK double attacking Solemn Judgement + 4500-ATK Divine Wrath that gets even stronger if it battles Level 5 or higher monsters = gg

  26. I think I might also try to fit Obelisk into the Deck for a test run since you mentioned it. I’m not sure what to side out though so it’ll probably be a 41-card deck.

I might also create a Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon Deck for Kaiba (it’s searchable with Melody of Awakening Dragon) since YGOPro has the anime version of Number 46: Dragluon that Special Summons a Dragon from your hand ignoring the Summoning Conditions. I normally play against my Bonz (Zombies) Deck, so I’d be able to use Dragluon to Summon Shining Dragon and Chaos Emperor Dragon in the same turn. Due to Zombie World, Dragluon would always be the only Dragon I control.

  27. Sadly I don’t know how to create cards for PRO. It would be awesome if KONAMI release RE Fusions like RE Ultimate and RE Twin Burst.

  28. I looked it up on Google, but it looks like a bit of a hassle to do (at least for someone that isn’t really good with computers.

I agree. Hopefully they surprise us with Legendary Decks II. I’m expecting the Extra Deck for Joey’s Deck to be Archfiend Black Skull Dragon, Thousand Dragon, and Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon, but hey, they’ve surprised us before (like with the Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon and Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon reprints in Duelist Pack: Rivals of the Pharaoh).

  29. Yes.Konami would release a retrained version of thousand dragon, or 1/2 new fusion monster with RE as material.

  30. I don’t think it will be new cards for the Extra Deck since it was confirmed months ago that the three Ultra Rares for Joey’s Deck are Red-Eyes B. Dragon, Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon, and Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning.

For Kaiba’s, I think it will be (1 copy of) Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Chaos Emperor Dragon (with the new errata, since Dark Magician of Chaos was printed with its Errata in the original Legendary Decks as Ultra Rare), and I’m not sure what else yet, unless Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon is reprinted again as Ultra Rare.

  31. Since we were talking about it, these are the predictions I came up with for Legendary Decks II after a post was made about it on Konami’s blog saying that each of the Decks will include cards Kaiba, Yugi, and Joey have used in Scripted Duels. (https://yugiohblog.konami.com/articles/?p=7902)

(The first 11 cards in the Yugi Deck have been confirmed already, as have Blue-Eyes White Dragon in the Kaiba Deck, and the first 3 cards of the Joey card. The rest are my own predictions based on what has been said about it, and that the Yugi Deck was already released in the OCG – I just replaced a few cards that are going to be Secret Rare Promo Cards for this Set, instead of in the Yugi Deck.)

  32. I don’t like talking about futurology, KONAMI make surprises. (I was in shock when BE Twin or the new support of Spirit was released).

Is interesting the deck of Yugi Muto, to be honest i have no intentions in adding in his deck the Gods or Exodia, but I see a great potencial to make a consistent deck of LV Magician, what your idea? I think it will worth.

About Joey and Kaiba, well, it look like the decks post here into one. But honestly structure decks of characters for me aren’t consistent. I prefer Structure decks of an archtype than a character.
